“I definitely understand where Keira was coming from, and she does wonderful things,” Bloom told Entertainment Weekly of his former costar’s recent comments.
“I have a lot of positive takeaways.” Prior to starring in 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the then-18-year-old actress had largely appeared on British TV series and in small film roles.
But the success of the Pirates franchise shot her to stardom, and in the years that followed she earned an Academy Award nomination for her starring role in 2005’s pride and prejudice.
“They were the most successful films I’ll ever be a part of and they were the reason that I was taken down publicly,” Knightley told The Times. “So they’re a very confused place in my head.”
