Andy Reid Reveals Travis Kelce and the Chiefs Are Having a Bad Year, Blaming Taylor Swift’s Bad Luck and Desperation

Taylor Swift did everything she could to make it up to Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2024 after missing his wedding because of her Eras Tour schedule.

The singer quickly forged a close friendship with Edwards-Helaire and his now wife, JoJo, after going public with Kelce in September 2023. But she couldn’t make their wedding due to her Eras Tour dates – she was performing in Dublin, Ireland at the time.

As per the Kansas City Star, Swift phoned the couple to apologize for missing their wedding.

To make matters even more complicated, Kelce was with her – the Dublin shows were the week after the NFL star stunned Swifties by appearing onstage with her in London – but Swift flew Kelce back to the United States so that he made the ceremony in Louisiana.

Edwards-Helaire told Kelce he didn’t have to fly back for the ceremony, to which Kelce replied: ‘Nah, Taylor’s already sending me. It’s good.’

Kelce was very close with Edwards-Helaire and worked to help him as he struggled with PTSD when he went into Chiefs training camp in the summer of 2024.

Edwards-Helaire added of Swift making sure Kelce was at his wedding: ‘It was one of those things where she understood the relationship, she knows where everything stands.’

Edwards-Helaire’s struggles with PTSD got so bad that he was even hospitalized at one stage. He has never revealed the precise cause but in 2018, he was in what he called a ‘self-defense situation’ with a friend when an 18-year-old man tried to rob them at gunpoint. The man was fatally shot but, according to Associated Press, police would not reveal whether Edwards-Healaire or his friend, Jared Small, fired the shots.

Speaking in August 2024 about his struggles, Edwards-Helaire said: ‘It’s really just mentally just not being there.

‘It is one of those things where early on guys who kind of pay attention like Travis… at times they can even know ahead of time. Like “ok Clyde’s not laughing, he’s not himself”.’

As of the incident where the man died, Edwards-Helaire added: ‘I would say that’s probably where a majority of things stem from. I wouldn’t necessarily say everything stemmed from that.

‘I have best friends that passed away at young ages from gun violence and just not being in the right places at the right time and just knowing that I have people that are close to me or around me who … could be in the same spots that I am.’

The report also reveals that Swift spoke to Edwards-Helaire to establish that Kelce was safe during the shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade in 2024.
