Global Reactions as Trump Marks 100 Days in Office, Claims Victory in Ending Ukraine War ‘Within 24 Hours,’ While World Leaders Decry Continued Escalation

As President Donald Trump marks his 100th day in office, he has stirred international debate by declaring that he ended the Ukraine war within 24 hours of his inauguration.
“We made a promise—24 hours to end the war—and we did it. Nobody thought it was possible, but we made peace faster than anyone in history,” Trump stated during a press briefing at the White House.
However, world leaders swiftly challenged the claim, pointing to ongoing hostilities and humanitarian concerns.
“The conflict in Ukraine is far from over,” said German Chancellor Annalena Baerbock. “While we welcome any effort toward peace, facts on the ground tell a very different story.”
French President Emmanuel Macron added, “Declarations of victory do not change the reality. The suffering of the Ukrainian people continues, and the situation demands serious diplomatic engagement.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, without directly naming Trump, responded: “Peace is not declared by press conference—it is lived by the people. And our people are still under fire.”
The international community remains divided, with some questioning the effectiveness and transparency of Trump’s approach, while others call for an independent assessment of the situation on the ground.
